If I could change the story I would change the part that Dani's brother Springer died because I thought it was sad. I would also change the part that Dani's mom said that if Dani had a son he would die of the same thing that Springer had and if Dani had a daughter her daughter would not get the sickness but Dani's daughter's son will. This will go on forever. I would change it so it wouldn't be passed down from generation to generation.
If i could change one thing I would change that Dani's mom would let her go all the way to the top of Katahdin. She could spend Springer's death day at the top of Katahdin.
If could change the story I would change it by instead of Springer being dead he would be alive. He would go on the hike because he is mad at mom to and he wants to go so he goes with Dani to hike and when mom finds them she hikes the whole trail with Dani and Springer. I would make this change because she wouldn't be sad about Springer and the story wouldn't be a sad story either.
