I have read Someone Named Eva, If a Tree Falls at Lunch Period, and just finished Deep and Dark and Dangerous. They were all amazing in there own ways!!!
I am currently reading my third Maud Hart Lovelace book, Someone Named Eva. So far it is very good, but it's not as exciting since this is the second time I have read this book. So far the book is very depressing but very well written, and I look forward to reading onward. I would have to say the only thing I do not like about the book is how sad it is- it really brings the feeling alive and makes the entire Hitler experience more realistic. You really realize that this actually happened, this isn't just some silly story. People lost their lives for no reason at all, all due to a man who didn't believe they were worthy. It's very upsetting, and just like after all stories about this event, it only makes everything more real about the period of time they loved in. -Malin
I just finished the book Someone Named Eva and I loved it. it was very haunting, well-written, and interesting. It's probably one of the best books I've read in a while. I'm now just starting Deep and Dark and Dangerous. I love the author's other books, so I'm sure this one will be great as well. ~ Laura
I have just finished reading my 3rd MHL book and i planning to read all of them but the one that impacted me the most was "Someone Named Eva" it is about a girl during ww2 who gets taken away from her family to become part of Hitlers "Perfect Family" program Just because she has blonde hair and blue eyes when she arrives she practictly gets brain washed learning to be the "perfect German Child" when you read this book you will really change the way you think and you relize that your life isn't taken for granted
I just finished reading Deep and Dark and Dangerous, and found it extremely well written, and hauntingly spooky with every word. You can literally find yourself inside the book with the characters. Living through their victories, and helping them solve their problems. This is a book I think that everyone should read. When you read this book, you can understand the story from all points of view, and you understand that all bad characters have reasons to be bad. ~Teja
I just finished how to steal a dog and it was good! It had a good plot. For the girl's best friend finds out she is living in a car. The girl's name is Georgina. She is hatching a plan on how to steal a dog so her family can get a reward for "finding" the dog and to get a real house again. Georgina's family is her, her mom and her little brother.
I finished reading All of the Above by Shelley Pearsall and I really wish there was a second book because it was filled with hope and determination. I like how they gave many different perspectives to the story and all the people involved had their own special problem. For example, Sharice was a foster child and she wasn't allowed at her foster house unless her foster mother was home. So she ended up staying with Rohndell's aunt Asia and she became her new foster mother.
I finished reading how to steal a dog. I think the book was pretty interesting especially when the ran into a guy named Mookie. Once Mookie found out that they had stolen the dog he didn't say anything to the owner and let them think that he didn't know anything. After that once the dog ran away from where they were keeping him Mookie brought him back to the porch where he was being kept instead of to the owner.
All of the above is a very thrilling book. it is told from many different views from all the children in a math class. It takes place in a run down school and everyone thinks the kids are stupid. But to get the school known the kids and the math teacher are making A tetrahedron. But then something happens! I strongly think that everyone should read this book.
Black Duck is so far my favorite books its about a boy who gets tied into the rum-running buisness. Rum-running is where little speed boats go out at night and get alchohal of bigger ships. Then, the Rum-runners bring it back to shore and sell. The best part of the book is how its told its told by the main character but the main character is older and remembering the story. The Black Duck is kind of slow at first but once you get into it you can not stop. $Alexa$
I read Found by Maragaret Haddix. While some parts of it were rather boring, the book redeemed itself with the action packed action in it later. I personally like suspense, something this book has a lot of. And unlike most other science fiction books, this one actually has an explanation for the surreal things, like time travel, teleportation, freezing gravity, etc. I recommend this if you like science fiction, action, or drama.
I'm now on my fourth book. I finished Deep and Dark and Dangerous and I loved it! It's interesting and just creepy enough to make it a little scary as well. It was great and I would totally recommend it. The next book I finished was Night of the Howling Dogs. It was a really powerful book about an earthquake in Hawaii and it's effect on a group of boy scouts on their camp-out. I thought is was really good. It was pretty exciting and it had awesome character development. I am now about 100 pages into Every Soul a Star, and it's okay, but not very fast-paced or interesting yet. ~ Laura
I'm on my third book Saturday night dirt and I'm enjoying it. But my favorite is Alabama moon it's fun to think someone younger than you is running from the law while you can't even run from your adult. It full of adventure and is a little sad but it's a great book. -Taig
Mary Downing Hahn did it again with her mysterious Deep and Dark and Dangerous. Two kids go to a cabin where their mothers used to go every summer. But soon they find a girl who has a lot of secrets but can't tell them on her own. The two girls have to find out what really happened to this girl. Its just another one of Mary Downing Hahn's ghost stories. *Alexa*
I enjoyed all the books I read (Saturday night dirt, night of the howling dogs, and Alabama moon.)But the book I like the best is Alabama Moon it is full of adventure and could be quite fictional. It's a good book. -Taig

ReplyDeleteI just finished reading my 3rd MHL book, which was How To Steal a Dog. I loved it. It was full of adventure, but with real life situations. When you read this book, you will find yourself rapped up in poverty with the characters. And their desperate tale of much needed money.
